Extra Space Storage - 6392 - Houston - Kuykendahl Rd

I started my lease in March and was given the rate, they then added more for insurance (not a big deal I know most places require this) however they then added $30 for an admin fee and another $30 lock fee. The lady never gave an option on the locks so I assumed this was their policy. Fast forward 4 months and they are doubling the rent, they did give me a month’s notice. Obviously I assumed the new rate was an error so I called and was first told I had a promotional rate because I did the lease online then when I told him I didn’t, I called and spoke with someone he said, “oh everyone’s rate is increasing.” He then told me that they increase the price after 3-6 months and then again at 9 months. Had this information been given to me at the beginning I would have looked elsewhere as this was intended to be long term because we are moving out of the area. Even if there is a price increase every 3 months is extremely excessive and maybe 2-5% but 50% Is absolutely insane. If they keep at this rate in 6 months I’ll be paying a house note. Now I’m having to moe the storage in the middle of Houston Heat while pregnant. I can’t risk the amount continuing to double every 3-4 months. I really wish they were upfront about their rates in the beginning so I could have found a place more reasonable for what we needed. The saddest part is that I actually had amazing things to say about this place prior to this. It seemed the manager was very on top of the property and actually checked the property daily which was very Comforting to know. The 50% increase in 4 months is just too ridiculous to continue to stay at such a deceiving property.
