I have been complaining to the Manager at the Columbia Storage facility since December. I have been renting a climate controlled indoor unit for over a year now. Starting in December I noticed the thermostat in the building was reading in the low 40’s. In January it was reading in the low 30’s. In February it was reading in the low 40’s again, and today in March the thermostat was turned off-just a blank screen. In the Contract, which I signed, says the temperature will be kept between 55 and 85. I am also paying extra for a protection plan which I now find out is useless unless you have receipts of items from the time of purchase and pictures of the items before and after storage. After complaining about the heat not working I was just sent a message that the rent is being raised. Obviously they broke the contract by not abiding by their own standards. If anyone reads this do not rent a temperature controlled unit, and don't waste your money with a protection plan.

No issues with the property itself. But the cost of rent for my unit has doubled since April 2024. I understand and expect occasional increases, but it’s gone up by almost $40 TWICE in 10 months. In addition, you’re required to pay $14 a month for insurance that you can’t opt out of. The cost of this very average storage facility is unreasonable at this point, and I will likely be moving my business elsewhere.

I have been a renter since Dec '24. I'm in and out a lot. The last manager Brandon was great and the present manager Nick is awesome too. He is very helpful to the needs of the tenants. The reason for the 2 star is that some of the tenants, are disrespectful with VERY loud music racing their motors. They work on cars outside of lockers and a lot of times you can't even get by them when doing that. The snow removal leaves 3' of snow in front of lockers and I'm 72. I shouldn't have to shovel that. I will be moving when snow gone. It is the most convenient for me, but the disrespects are driving me out. Seems like the owners don't care.

EDIT: cold weather hit and they raised the rate even higher now at almost TWICE the starting rate! Manager is nice, but the rates go up every month I started at $70 a month and then it was 90 then 100 then 110 now 120, when does it stop? for a 10x15 only! also, they say that they spray for mice but I've never seen an exterminator there, and we had mice in one of the units with all of our children's spare clothes for the winter toys etc - gross! also it's completely black at night because they don't replace light bulbs

Overally experience in procuring a storage unit was very good. The property manager is friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The only negative is that there are no climate controlled units available.
