Be aware of rapid and unstable pricing after move-in I’m sharing this to inform future customers about the pricing structure at Public Storage. I signed up for a 5x5 unit at $60/month. Here’s how the pricing changed within a few months: Month 1: $60 Month 2: Increased to $80 (was told insurance was required) Month 3: Stayed at $80 Month 4: Increased to $126 Month 5: Increased again slightly (over $128 total) After posting a review and calling, I was emailed confirmation that my rate would be reduced to $90 per month for three months. However: • The next charge appeared as $92.32 • Then the total increased again to $94.48 When reviewing the breakdown, I discovered the base rent had been raised to $102, with only a temporary $34 discount applied. That means the underlying rent remains elevated, and once the three-month discount expires, the total will return close to the higher amount again. So the pattern has been: Lower intro rate → sharp increase → temporary reduction → creeping increases again. The total fluctuates up and down, but the base rent continues trending upward. While this may be permitted under a month-to-month agreement, the structure feels unstable and confusing when the introductory rate is presented as the price. Many positive reviews appear to be written shortly after move-in, when customers are still on their promotional rate and satisfied with the clean facility and helpful staff. Long-term pricing changes are rarely discussed. That’s important for prospective customers to understand: the move-in experience may be positive, but the long-term cost can change quickly and unpredictably. Before signing, ask: • Is this a promotional rate? • What will the permanent base rent be after promotions? • How soon can rates increase? • What has the average increase been in the past year? • Can I provide my own insurance instead of purchasing theirs? I’m sharing this so others can make a fully informed decision.

I am not sure about all locations but the norwalk location is dismal. The location is somewhat clean, walls inside the building are caving outwards and the entrance to the building was broken for a long time. The staff, including the area manager are not professional. After trying to fix a problem for three months, which the area mgr Alex Noel, admitted was their mistake they still make it difficult for customers. The location mgr Irene will tell you when she will be available but never shows up. When you do finally speak to her, she will speak over you not allowing you to speak. She also is very quick to blame you when her "manager" already admited fault. With so many storage possibilities it's amazing the their customer service is so bad.
