Storage Sense - Crestwood

I will keep this review as objective as possible and introduce my opinions and takeaways at the end. I joined with Storage Sense on 3/24/25. Storage Sense had a discounted rate at the time of my application. The online rental process was lengthier than expected, but still smooth. In the paperwork, there are vague mentions that Storage Sense can raise the price at any time. I did not need to talk to anyone at the location until i started to receive further correspondence from Storage Sense. When we arrived the day after signing the contract, we found our unit ready for us and pretty clean. There was a big oil stain which wasn't a big issue for me. The only real surprises were the amount of spiders that showed up over a few months and how difficult the door was to open. In June, i received $5 off my bill for my birthday, which was a nice gesture. On 8/27, entering my 4th month, i received my 1st price increase notice. Apparently, if i chose to continue to rent there, my price would be going up 22% effective by month 5. I called before getting upset, and i learned this is a legitimate practice at Storage Sense. Meredith is a very nice person to deal with on the phone, as anyone that reads the reviews will notice. However, Meredith has 0 control over pricing or policy. I remained very cordial with her while speaking as i understand she has a job just like i do. We established by the end of that conversation that i would in fact be packing my unit and leaving due to what i consider shady business practice. I informed Meredith and she understood, but could not help me. When it came time for me to cancel my unit, the experience changed entirely. I wrote an email and left a voicemail the day my unit was cleared out and swept out(9/9). I received no correspondence as a confirmation this would be processed. After a few days, i started calling(9/15). All of a sudden my calls and VM's were not being returned. I stopped by one day about an hour before they closed and everyone was gone. I eventually, 10 days after sending the email and voicemail (9/19) resorted to calling corporate and talked to someone there who, while unprofessional, was able to answer my question. The request was processed the day after i sent it. Why did i have to burn up hours of my life calling and driving when a simple question could have been answered via phone/email? I have waited to post this review to see if i received any erroneous charges, but i still have not. My opinions now: For a storage unit to give you 4 months at a discounted rate, feels like just enough time to allow you to get all of your stuff in, and get you locked into a parasitic relationship. Once you have put in that level of work, it is more attractive to you to just absorb a 22% price increase than it is to undo all the work you just did(god forbid you are differently abled and hired movers to do all this for you). This is apparently a common practice in the storage industry, i learned, while speaking to Meredith on the phone. However, i used a storage unit in Louisville, off Collins lane years ago that kept our introductory deal for the entire year+ that we needed the unit. I did not feel taken advantage of in that business relationship as i did in this one because the agreement was honored. If storage sense called these offers "introductory offers" so their customers were more aware of their intentions, they would no longer be getting this same tired review every time someone checks out with them. However, i also assume they would get less business, as an informed consumer isn't always good for business. That's another point; beware of good reviews that are obviously from someone who just checked in. Good service is certainly appreciated, but if good service is backed up by trapping your customer with price increases, what good is it? My big takeaway: i became so disenchanted with a company's practices that it partially changed my life. I got a dumpster, gave away to friends and donated the rest of all of my stuff just to avoid having to deal with a company like this again.

I used this facility for years. When Storage Sense bought the place little over a year ago my rent was $120 a month. When I left it was $238 a month. That's nearly a 100% increase in a little over a year. The greed just got to be too much. On top of that, a good portion of the storage units seem to leak (At least both mine and my brothers did and I assume adjacent units were as well). Like said before, staff was pleasant, and checkout was easy.

This location has the nicest office personnel! I was assisted by Meredith and Betty and they were wonderful. Strongly recommend this business to all! Customer service is truly on point.

Customer for yeara and used to have 2 units downsized to 1 before Storage Sense bought the place. Rent used to be 110.00 a month for the one unit. The former owners, Mother Daughter, were alot of the times rude. Storage Swnse buys the place
