Facility Overview & What to Expect
Verified Customer Reviews
I'll start with the cons that way readers get the full scope of why not to rent space from Self Storage Plus. Pricing: my rate has jumped almost $300.00 since Self Storage Plus took over back in say 2021/22. That's A lot! What they don't provide, clean restrooms, Dollie's that aren't broken or worn down from use, elevators that are working properly, no trash/dumpsters, mysterious all of a sudden this is in your contract statements, removing locks if your 33 days late, lien notices if your 4 days late adding additional fees over $110 plus dollars. The icing on the cake customer service. For every interaction I've had with an employee at this storage facility it has been an uphill battle. Literally! Each time it's because oh we're enforcing the contract now. If you want to enforce anything let the customers know especially when you never have. Now this past weekend I ended up having to call Montgomery County Police to navigate the ridiculous manner in which Sam (person there) handled my unit and the situation. After paying $634.00, I asked that the overlock be removed. Okay no problem. I'll meet you at the unit per Sam. We get to the unit he says do you have a lock, (of course because now they remove them and their reason is because they need to take pictures of your items, which is BS. If you haven't done that for 3/4 years why would you start now removing locks to be clear. We call that a money grab and unnecessary). We get to my unit and he says do you have a lock. I said no. Oh then I can't remove the lock. I tried to be calm and asked for a manger after letting Sam know this new rule never happened before. He proceeded to tell me the customer the situation didn't require a manager. If a customer asks for a supervisor (mind you I asked calmly) you figure it out or problem solve, not become arrogant. I said if you can't get a supervisor I'll get the police to assist. I suppose he thought I was joking and brushed it off in an arrogant manner. I drove 4 hours and paid one month of $634, I wasn't in the mood for his unprofessional tones/attitude. Sam then proceeded to lie about the facts of which my friend corrected him quickly on what I said. Police arrived and I lost my patience. He proceeds to pull out my contract that he highlighted to explain to the police. That enraged me even more. Why wouldn't you have done that before an escalation of a situation. Why he didn't take the steps to say listen if we go back to the office I can show you in your contract or even better before we got to my unit when I was paying say something. More importantly that wasn't my signature on the contract. This escalation could have been completed avoided and police not included. Instead it was Sam trying to play the victim in a situation that he wasn't. It was me having someone there to corroborate his actions and how things escalated in a negative way. As a woman there was no professional respect given in the situation to mitigate or deescalate. If there were a "0" star yes, they have achieved it. In the process of moving things now. We all have to pay bills and with that comes customer service a certain physical aesthetic of cleanliness. That is not what Self Storage Plus offers its customers. Pricing is bad, facility is not up kept as it once was. No one likes an unclean restroom or Dollie's where the boards are worn down and loose. Do better! No apologies needed or wanted.
Sam and Mr. White were incredibly friendly! Sam presented us with all the options we were looking for and took the time to answer all of our questions. He was very helpful and made the process super easy.
I have been renting a medium size unit from this storage place since the summer of 2024. This week, I have received notice of my 5th rate increase since I started renting. Rental plus insurence was $125. I just received notice it will now be $288. I will be looking for other options.
If I leave zero stars, I would. I rented a storage unit in Friday, November 28 for my stuff. First the hallway that my storage unit was in had no lights so we put our things in with dim lighting then when we returned the next day on Saturday and found a lock on our unit. We called customer service and no one returned our call. We returned in Sunday, in the snowy rain to find the office closed and new locked out of my rented storage unit with my entire life in it. I Ann seeking an immediate refund and writing a poor review everywhere I can. Run from this establishment!!!
I have used this storage place a couple of times now for different reasons. Short-term during renovations and long-term for extra space. The location is very convenient to downtown. The buildings and units are always clean and well maintained. Knowledgeable and helpful staff.
